Preventative Dentistry

Preventative dentistry is the foundation of Embrun Smiles Family Dentistry. We emphasize regular check ups and cleanings to prevent future dental problems. We strive to motivate our patients to maintain daily oral hygiene as their first defence in the prevention of cavities and gum disease.

Dentures

If you are missing multiple teeth or an individual tooth, removable dentures could be a valued option for you. We aim to provide a comfortable, esthetic, stable and functional appliance to improve your overall well being.

Implants

Dental implants allow patients to restore missing teeth. A biocompatible titanium screw is inserted into the bone (similar to the root of a natural tooth) and a crown, bridge or denture is placed over the implant once it has integrated into the bone.

Root Canal Treatment

When a tooth becomes infected, is traumatized or dies, the nerve/pulp of the tooth needs to be removed. This process is called a root canal and involves removing the nerve/pulp, cleaning the inside of the tooth and sealing it to prevent bacteria from spreading in the oral cavity. If you have swelling or pain from a large filling you may also need root canal treatment. After root canal treatment, the tooth is more fragile and a crown is usually recommended to prevent future fracture.

Crown and Bridge

If you are missing a tooth, or following root canal treatment, it is typically recommended to provide the tooth with full coverage to prevent future fractures. Sometimes teeth break down and if you notice cracks in your tooth you may be a candidate for a crown to provide full cusp coverage. If you are missing a tooth, a bridge may be recommended to ensure the adjacent teeth are protected and the space is filled by an artificial tooth.

Night Guards, Mouth Guards

If you play sports, wake up with headaches, or have jaw pain, a mouth guard or night guard could be the perfect solution. Custom-made appliances will help to improve your overall health and protect your teeth during sports or throughout the night during periods of clenching or grinding your teeth.

Embrun and local area residents can be rest assured that, when you have a dental emergency, you can contact us and we will arrange an emergency appointment for you. We can usually have you come in on the same day. We will make sure we provide suitable treatment to relieve any pain as soon as we can, and have you feeling more comfortable during your initial appointment.
